“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” Hebrews 13.8. The same God who raised Jesus will raise us; the same God who tore down walls will tear them down again; the same God who stops to hear the cry of the broken and discarded will take time to hear our cry; the same God who calls us to rise up and meet Him will call us up to meet Him again some day; the same God who calmed the storm will calm our storms; the same God who brought His people out of slavery so they could rest will once again bring us out of slavery and lead us into His perfect and forever rest. He loves to exhibit His character. Are you allowing His character to produce in you joy?
One who is not walking in truth has gotten there by wandering away, as we read in James 5.19-20. To wander is "to move in a leisurely, casual, or aimless way." It implies an absence of or an indifference to a fixed course. Carelessness creates space for us to be drawn away from the path to true life.
To walk in the way of Christ takes continual and disciplined movement toward an intentional goal. The Bible illuminates the path and sets the goal for us. Christ, the living Word of God, is the way, the truth, and the life. Like the track leading a train toward its destination, so we can trust God's Word to lead us home.
"Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in your ways." -Psalm 37 (ESV)
Are you moving toward your goal?
